Month of Horror (XII) – Kazuo Umezu’s Horror Theater: Death Make

This is part of a larger TV series, based on the works of Manga Artist Kazuo Umezu, a fellow I’d only sort of heard of. The series has six individual episodes, and I chose the last one, Death Make, as it sounded like a cousin of one of my favorite Found Footage subgenres: Internet Influencers go to a haunted place to die.

To summarize briefly, ten years prior a group of school kids did a test of courage at a haunted hospital. None come back. Now a group of psychics go there to find out what they can. And get an interesting video out of it.

This, of course, sounds like my faves Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum and Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital. I’d hoped for something simular.

Didn’t get it.

This is an entertaining story filled with bad F/X. Though the monster is neat.

Yeah. Monster.

I feel this might have worked better as an Anime, or in the original form. However I can’t say my time was wasted here. Sooner or later I’m bound to watch the rest.

One of them has a killer Santa about. Christmas time viewing?
